The wait is over — this year's official Nevada Day poster is here, and it carries a theme as big and bold as Nevada itself: Pumpkins, Pioneers & Tall Tales. Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 31st, 2026, when Carson City once again becomes the heart of the Silver State's biggest birthday celebration.
Every year, the poster does more than announce a date. It sets the tone. It tells you what kind of celebration is coming. And this year's design does exactly that — equal parts harvest mischief, pioneer grit, and the kind of larger-than-life storytelling that has always been part of Nevada's DNA.
A Collaboration Worth Celebrating
This poster is special for a reason that goes beyond the artwork itself: it's the result of a true collaboration.
The design brings together Executive Director Chantell Peck — the artist behind so much of Nevada Day's visual identity — and a talented young art student from Dayton High School, who earned a cash prize for their winning contribution. The student's artwork sits front and center, anchoring the entire piece, with Mark Twain's book at its core.
It's a fitting tribute. Mark Twain got his start as a writer right here in the Nevada Territory, and his tall tales helped put the region on the literary map. Featuring his book at the center of the poster — created by a Nevada student, no less — is a perfect handoff between generations of Nevada storytellers.
What the Theme Means
Three words, three threads of Nevada's story:
Pumpkins — Because Nevada Day lands on Halloween this year, and there's no better way to lean into the season than with a little autumn magic and harvest spirit lining the parade route.
Pioneers — A nod to the settlers, miners, and dreamers who carved out the Silver State and earned Nevada its place in the Union in 1864. Their grit is the reason we celebrate at all.
Tall Tales — A wink to Mark Twain and the rich tradition of Nevada folklore, where the truth and the legend are sometimes hard to tell apart — and that's exactly how we like it.
The Full Lineup
The poster doesn't just celebrate the parade — it spotlights all the official events happening around it this year. From a sunrise balloon launch to a heritage rock-drilling showdown, here's how the day unfolds in Carson City:
8:00 AM — Hot Air Balloon Launch. The day lifts off at dawn as balloons rise over Carson City, the perfect way to start a one-of-a-kind celebration.
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM — Vendors. Browse, shop, and snack your way through the day. Vendor booths are open all day long.
10:00 AM — Nevada Day Parade. The main event. Floats, marching bands, and the whole community fill the streets of downtown Carson City for the Silver State's signature celebration.
10:30 AM — Rock Drilling Competition. A nod to our pioneer roots, where competitors put Nevada's mining heritage on full display.
1:00 PM — Beard Contest. A Nevada Day favorite — bring your best whiskers and a little frontier flair.
3:00 PM — Pumpkin Contest Judging. Fitting for a Halloween celebration, the season's finest pumpkins go head-to-head.
3:00 PM — Live Music. The afternoon winds down with live music to keep the celebration going.
Whether you're coming for the parade, the history or just the chance to celebrate alongside your neighbors, there's something for everyone this year.
