Nevada Day Board announces the theme for 2007 “Mysteries of Nevada – AREA 51” The Great State of Nevada holds many mysteries. The Nevada Day Committee understands this and wishes to bring this to the public light. Nevada has been the place of numerous UFO encounters, alien autopsies, and Elvis sightings. The list is as long as it is diverse. The 2007 theme “Mysteries of Nevada – AREA 51” will bring attention to a mysterious place in Nevada near the town of Rachel. AREA 51 has always had a fascination with the public. Imaginations go wild thinking of all the secrets that this place holds. The public desire to know about this place only continues to feed our curiosity and fascination. AREA 51 is one of the best kept secrets that everyone knows about, and the more the government denies its existence only continues to feed the mystique. So this year we celebrate the fascination we have with AREA 51 and all the secrets we have yet to learn. AREA 51 is a 6 mile by 10 mile strip of land in southern Nevada, known by a variety of names: Air Force Flight Test Center, Detachment 3, Dreamland, Watertown Strip, Paradise Ranch, The Box, or Groom Lake. The 60 square mile of land is owned by the United States Air Force, containing an airfield whose primary purpose is believed to be the secret development and testing of new military aircraft. It is famed as the subject of many UFO conspiracy theories. Reference: Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia.
There are so many unique and interesting places in the State of Nevada; some old, some new, some are places one just passes through. Others are places one hears about, but never ventures into the desert to see for themselves; therefore they remain a mystery. The Nevada Day Board encourages everyone to join the citizens of Nevada to do some research, read about, and maybe even travel to the area, to become familiar with a variety of treasures within the great State of Nevada. While exploring this particular treasure of Nevada get some really creative ideas for your entry in the parade. There are so many ways to go with this theme. You are only limited by your imagination. You and your group could fashion a float: as a stealth airplane, maybe a flying saucer, aliens or??? A marching unit dressed as aliens sporting stealth batons as it displays precision drills? An individual dressed in your best Martian suit or you and your cousin dressed in your “Men in Black” suits. Give it your best shot! Let’s not forget to salute the Armed Services and how they continue to protect our freedom and serve our country. Nevada Day is saying “We just want to have fun” this year! We are looking forward with excitement to the possibilities for the parade entries as we celebrate the “Mysteries of Nevada – AREA 51.”
