the same time Nevada became a state on October 31, 1864,
American carnivals were coming into their own as the newest Since that eventful time, both Nevada and carnivals have grown proportionately so that it is fitting that they share the spotlight together for this coming Nevada Day Celebration October 30 - November 2, 2008 at Mills Park in Carson City, sponsored by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). 2008 is the 23rd year RSVP has joined in the Nevada Day festivities and will bring in the well-known Midway Western Amusements Carnival complete with their newest, biggest, and most exciting state-of-the-art rides for all four days. Also there will be plenty of kiddy rides for the wee ones. Admission to the park is free, but those wishing to take a ride or rides pay a charge. Dates/Times: Thursday, 10/30-4pm - Midnight; Friday & Saturday 10/31 11/01 - Noon to Midnight; Sunday, 11/2 - Noon to 10 pm. Call for price information. Admission to Mills Park is free, so come, look around, ride the rides, eat, drink, and be merry! Proceeds from the RSVP Nevada Day carnival supports the costs of its programs, including its Home Companion Program, which enables homebound seniors to remain at home rather than in a care facility.
