Gentlemen
start your whiskers, the Annual 2008 Nevada Day Beard Contest
promises to keep up a Nevada Day tradition! The contest is open to anyone
with a beard and there is no entry fee. Admission is
FREE!
The Beard contest will not be held on the Capital Steps starting in 2008/ Please check back in September 2008 for information on the new location, after the completion of the Nevada Day Parade. Plaques were awarded in eight categories: longest, fullest, reddest, whitest, blackest, best salt and pepper, best groomed, scruffiest, and most bearded community. Every year Virginia City makes a particularly good showing since they challenged all comers that they could put more bearded men on the Capitol steps than any other community. For the last four years, they have won the "Most Bearded Community" award. The contest is one of the many fun events during the Annual Nevada Day Celebration.
